Emmett – Emmett is an English surname, meaning “universal”, that has been rising in the charts.  Currently #173 in the U.S., Emmett hasn’t been this popular here since 1909.  Surnames as given names are definitely on the rise.  Other similar names such as Everett and Beckett are also climbing the charts.  Emmett was a name used in the very popular Twilight series.  Although Emmett was already rising in popularity, has it jumped 421 spots since the release of Twilight in 2005.

Celia – Celia is a Latin name with the beautiful meaning, “heavenly”.  Sometimes used as a nickname for Cecilia, Celia actually has a different origin and meaning.  This feminine little name is familiar, yet not too popular at #765 in the U.S. Cuban-American Singer Celia Cruz (pictured above) was born Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso – what a name, huh?

  2. I have been loving Celia lately! I think it sounds so sweet, has a beautiful meaning and ages well. I know a wonderful older woman named Celia who makes me love it even more.
    Emmett used to be one of my favorite names. I think it’s handsome but I wouldn’t use it.
