This week our names are Violet & Winston

Violet – a Victorian flower and color name. Violet is a lovely name that is quickly climbing the charts.  There are many characters in literature and film that bear this purple name. Maggie Smith plays the sharp tongued character, Violet Crawley  in the Downton Abbey Series, and who can forget the gum-chewing, blueberry fated Violet Beauregard from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Winston– for years vintage girls names have been making a comeback, and I suspect we’ll start seeing old names, like Winston, begin to climb for boys.  An English name, meaning “wines town” or “joy stone”, many people, myself included, associate this old charming name with Winston Churchill.
